This story takes a delicious twist of fate, and a mysterious storyline involving murders and evil-doers and runs with it. Barbara writes Hanfics that read like novels. Unlike MarySues and their perfect natures, her characters are flawed and even a little warped.
It starts out with the Taylor character trying, it seems, to run away from his problems and have some quiet time to reflect on the mess he’s made of his life. But, his solitude is interrupted by the crashing of a plane on his lonely mountaintop and with it, a chunk of his past is returned to him.
What ensues is a wonderfully complicated plot with madmen, murder, understanding, and not so understanding family and a little romance thrown in for good measure. Barbara always tries to keep the romance out, but she’s so good at it, I’m always glad that she never succeeds. Her heroine, Justice, has been in trouble many times and it not quite sure where it all came from. As we find out more about the ties she has with the Hanson family, and Taylor, the storyline really heats up. The brothers are supporting characters here, Taylor isn’t the only Hanson present. So, Zac and Isaac fans, don’t pass this one up because it’s a “Taylor story”!
If you like a page turner, this story is one I recommend. If you like romance, I recommend it as well. Go over to “Turn the Page” and do yourself a favor. Read “Deep Blue Heart”, and then, for dessert, read all her other stories. These aren’t for teenies, these are big-girl stories. Go indulge yourself.
