Hello Hanfic Junkies! And welcome to the Various Artists Awards for Hanson Fiction of Literary Excellence and blah blah blah! We’ve done the Hall of Fame, which is OUR favorite stories, so now, we’re giving all of you a chance at it.
Here’s the rules:
First of all, this is not a popularity contest. We want you to submit stories that you believe are incredibly well written, well thought out, well executed pieces. They don’t have to be finished, but they need to have enough chapters written for our panel of judges to get a good feel for the author’s style and plotting. Don’t bother voting for your friend’s story 235 times, we’ll throw out 234 of your votes (or just disqualify the story). Sorry to be hard asses, but that’s the way it is.
Stories need to be posted at Various Artists.
This first year, we’re taking submissions from all years; from 1997 to 2005. Next year, it’ll be exclusively stories written or updated in 2006. So, this is the year to get those sentimental (and beautifully realized) stories in there. Depending on how many nominations come in, it’s very possible we’ll have both Old School and New School nominees in many of the categories.
We want to honor great stories for their plot, and great writers for their body of work. There are scenes that we’ve all loved and we want to award those visions. The characters we fell in love with and those that we hated, all deserve to get their come-uppance as well.
So, put on those thinking caps, find those links and submit the stories that moved you the most. The ones that kept you checking update pages and journals. The ones that kept you interested in Hanson even when Hanson was nowhere to be found—let’s give those authors the credit they deserve! Nominate, and then check out the final cut of nominees, read the stories, and vote for the ones you honestly think are the best! By the way, don't forget to type the word 'Tulsa' into the 'hint' box on the form when nominating. We want your nomination to count!
