ELLUNAR AUTHOR GABRIELLA THACKERY BEGINS BESPELLED TOUR LIVE WITH LETTERMAN

New York, New York - March 14, 2009 -  Gabriella Thackery, author of the current New York Times #1 Bestseller, Bespelled, kicks off a 12-city, 30-stop author tour with an appearance at Live with David Letterman on Friday, March 17.

"I never imagined this would happen," says Thackery of her overnight success. Up until last Spring, the long-time aspiring author was working as an office manager in a small publishing house in her native Westchester County, CT. Since, her first novel geared at young adults has sold over 10  million copies, delighting readers both young and old with its whimsical world of magic and empowerment.

"It's been nearly ten years since we've seen a response of this kind to any book--adult or children's," marvels Ben Clifton, public relations director at Barnes and Noble Booksellers. "Thackery's readers are so passionate about her characters--every day I see little girls dressed in Millie's trade-mark red tights and baret. Nothing like this has hit publishing since J.K. Rowling in the early '90s."   This comparison seems to be on everyone's lips these days, but Thackery is quick to discount it. "I can only dream of being as talented as Ms. Rowling. Her books changed my life and helped make me the writer I am today."

Millie-mania is by all accounts rapidly surpassing even the furor over Harry Potter.   America is hungry for appearances by her creator, and they won't be let down, promises Thackery. "I'm really excited to get a chance to talk to all of the amazing people who have been reading Bespelled, and having an opportunity to thank all of the bookstore owners that have worked so tirelessly promoting my work."

Tentative dates for Thackery's appearances are scheduled to be announced in early April.
