Picture 2- the road

This unfortunate looking picture is actually the road that runs in front of Hanson's house, and was taken from a vehicle speeding away from the site of a recent sighting, even.  One of the biggest curiosities I wanted to assuage while visiting the boys' hometown wasn't necessarily even about their house, which anyone can see in pictures posted all over the net.  Instead I wanted to see what their environment was like, and where they had grown up. Well, this is it.  As you can perhaps see in the picture, the area initially appears pretty rural. The road is paved, but barely, and there is no sidewalk on either side.  One thing that is most likely not immediately obvious here is that the road is crowded with houses.  Each sits on about an acre, and tends to be quite nice, but all along the road there are driveways. One would imagine that spelled out lots of little neighbor kids to play with, which was perhaps one of the factors that enabled such ease in homeschooling.

The homes are set relatively far back from the road, which makes them pretty hard to see.  The Hansons are one house down from a corner, so taking a left allows a little glimpse of the backyard. Not like I looked or anything (insert innocent eyebrow raise here).  There is indeed a house situated directly beyond the small brown home of the boys, but it's not really fanfic worthy; a screen of trees basically blocks it off. Drat! I guess that means that art isn't imitating life in the hanson/window/looking into new girl's bedroom thing.  How depressing!

In a footnote that I'm absolutely sure no one cares about, this road is home to some interesting exotic pets.  To get into this neighborhood from downtown one must cross the Arkansas river and wander down some meandering roads, at the edge of one of which is a pasture. Grazing in said pasture? Two llamas!  Jess thought I was mentally disturbed as I squealed in delight. What can I say? They're obviously my agents, there to guard the Hanson family against harm.
