Photographic self indulgence (Tulsa style) |

I believe that in the past I have brought up my propensity towards taking pictures of random signs. Here we go... exhibit 'A'. I gave my travelling companions permission to use whatever bodily force was required to keep me from wasting film on stunning shots of "Tulsa 75 mi" looming green above the streets, but apparently the plea for sanity wasn't effective. Not only did they let me take the silly pictures, they were accomplices! This shot at least has the redeeming merit of being notable (in comparison to the shots of random uneventful, and totally empty, streets). |

This charming sign is located on a road just across the Texas border. Stopping here is quite entertaining, as it earns bemused stairs from passerby, seasoned by the honks of truckers apparently supportive of random photography. Remember, in Tulsa, unlike at Hanson shows, there are only two rules: have no pride, and... well.. have no pride! ;) |

One of the many reasons to like Admiral Twin is the sheer random sense of humor they display at every turn. Even their name is odd, having come into existence when some pesky kid --Dylan something-- started a little band called "the Wallflowers", clearly poaching on territory already covered by Tulsa's "Melodramatic Wallflowers." After what was no doubt an ugly battle, with lots of crying by I'm-to-cool-for-a-c-in-my-name leader of that other band, the boys showed their humanity by agreeing to change their name to "Admiral Twin," a moniker previously only known of as a drive in on the North side of Tulsa. For illustrious appearances by said drive in, check out the movie "The Outsiders," in which is had a staring role. |

First of all, I'd like to point out how cool my camera is. It can take regular pictures as well as panoramic shots like this one, and has the capability to zoom nose-hair close to subjects quite a distance away. There is no doubt in my mind that we didn't see Hanson for a reason; not because they were in California, but instead because I had a decent camera. That would go against nature. We ended up parking right behind the main stage for Mayfest, where AT would be performing, and this shot shows Jarrod's drums behind those of Joan Jett's band. Oh, yeah. That's her in the white. Yadda Yadda ;) |

No, I don't know why every picture here is John or Jarrod based. There's not a shred of logic to my madness, other than they were the only members I ever got a clean shot of. This was taken before the show while the boys (hehe.. young men? Men.) were setting up their equipment. Visible in this shot are Jarrod's drums, which appeared earlier in the backstage pic. |

Whoever said that necessity is the mother of invention had a point. This
picture showcases one of the many potential uses for a back... that of desk. Marc,
with his rock-star hair, is signing a Mayfest t-shirt here. Everyone who I went with got a
complete accouterment of AT signatures... on buttons as well as Mayfest shirts. My
signed item is a shirt I got at one of the many tables that lined Tulsa's main drag for
the festivities, and it says "spot" on it in honor of Tulsa World's weekend
entertainment section.
