An Admiral Twin teenie with a camera

johnjohn.jpg (10635 bytes) Look everyone! A tagged pic!  This is probably the best AT shot I got during the entire Tulsa trip.  When we first arrived at the main stage, planning on staking the place out for decent seats, the band was just hanging out.  To get this picture for a friend of mine who is nursing *the* single hugest John crush in the history of the world, shy old llama actually wandered up and said "Hey! Can I take your picture?"  After I was given permission I even went so far as to say, "smile!" What amazing bravado one shows when 2,000 miles away from home!

jarrod.jpg (82171 bytes) Why lookie here. It's Jarrod Gollihare, AT member and author of the official Hanson book.  This shot was taken before the Mayfest performance while the band was just hanging around, talking to their fans.  The lot of them seemed incredibly nice about signing autographs and just making themselves available to talk, which was endlessly cool. It was neat to hear a little about the work they're doing on the follow up to Unlucky, and cool to relate to the band members on a more human level.    One of the people I was with even went so far as to ask Jarrod how he felt about his appearance of late in several AT fanfics, and while vaguely offended by his girlie actions, Jarrod seemed tickled, if bewildered, at the prospect of AT fanfic. Here he rather looks like a skater punk, but for the show he did indeed don the classic AT attire of a black suit with the rest of his compatriots.

lordjohn2.jpg (11241 bytes) Wow. I took more gratuitous John shots than I had thought!  This one was  unbeknownst to the subject, as a test for the stunning telephoto lens of the camera I talked my father into buying for my mom for Christmas. I'm so sly I scare myself ;)

jarrodjohn.jpg (16185 bytes) Here we see John and Jarrod consorting with the masses several hours before their Mayfest appearance.  At least 30 people had already gathered, and the majority of the group wandered around in the horde, chatting with everyone.

marcjarrod.jpg (8521 bytes) Oh look! It's a light and slightly unfocused picture of AT! How incredibly rare!  Jarrod and Mark are setting up their instruments before the show, and I have to say I'm deeply depressed because Mark's shirt is unintelligible. It was deeply random... something about squirrel hunters do it better?

brad.jpg (48888 bytes) The moral behind this picture appears to be "even with a $300 camera llama is utterly unable to take a decent picture."  It's odd to see AT out there setting up their own instruments, and even being relatively unheard of among   less-than-savvy native Tulsans.  The Hanson community latched firmly onto them, though, and for good reason. The music they produce is intelligent, upbeat, and innovative.  A good friend just said to me "I can't wait to see them in MTV's buzz bin after their next release," and I'm with her.  Get ready, Carson, here comes Tulsa's newest musical sensation ;)

johnplays.jpg (99246 bytes) Yes, yes. It's *another* John shot. Russell's looking rather ruffled here, but it's just because he's putting on perhaps the most energetic performance I've ever seen from AT. In another less than interesting side note,  I have now officially seen AT more than any other band. Including acts local to my hometown! I'm all for supporting local music... hehe.. as long as it's from Tulsa. All we have here are  Dead knockoffs who have lyrics even more inane than the "we have a skyscraper in the band" brand of Phish :b  Go Tulsa! Long live pop!

johnham.jpg (10922 bytes) Mr. Russell grooves during the show. In an probably less than interesting footnote, while I was in England last summer I stayed in an area of London that was full of "lord John Russell" roads, museums, and of course, being England and all, pubs.  Apparently this earlier Russell had donated a good deal of land to the University of London, perhaps even hinging on the requirement that every two feet there should be something be named after him.  ;)

brad2.jpg (73118 bytes) The man on the left is wearing a hat. Pretty profound, eh?  We didn't struggle to the front of the crowd, where a large group of teenaged girls were largely holding sway, but instead stayed in the comfort zone several rows back. This picture was taken during the show itself, and you can see Brad grooving with his guitar.

streetsign.jpg (8896 bytes) I don't know how this picture is going to look to people other than me, but it came out incredibly well on my screen.  This would be one of those random "take the camera *away*!" moments... a street sign right across the road from the Admiral Twin drive in.  The name of the theater? Well, it's on Admiral Place, and there are two screens.  It makes a stunning amount of sense, eh?
