[10/10/04] In the years since I updated
this page regularly, I've really lost the knack of rambling. Who would have thought? At
any rate, chapter four of the new Lived is
up and running.
Since my big hanfic writing days back in the late 90s, I've graduated from college and
gotten on with the business of living: I work, I try to have a social life--you know the
drill. Until I started rewriting Lived this summer, I had forgotten what it was like to be
forced to sit in front of my computer for hours and hours on end until I finally cranked
out something passable for a grade, or these days for possible publication. ::knocks on
wood:: The best part of the grind of producing? Procrastination. I love it, let me tell
you. Lately I've even been reading hanfic while I should be working, so I thought I'd pass
on a couple of newish, interesting links that are very worth your time. Catapult is a fabulous
story of destiny and true love that almost verges on being science fiction--only without
all the boring science parts. (You might want to sit down before you read this next
part) It's even still being updated. Ivey's
Fiction is home both to the resurrected Naked City and a funny and wonderful new Zac
story called Pretend Last Night Didn't Happen. Also, I've lately been all about a classic
of Hanfic's second (third?) wave: So There Was This Boy. There
are even subsequent installations in this series, one of which is still being updated to
this day. If anyone has any suggestions about other stories I should be reading, totally drop me a line; I'm always looking for good new
fiction.
Oh, and here's something completely random that I've never admitted to here: I have a
LiveJournal. It's boring and stupid, but whatever. Just call me Lastandleast.
[9/15/04] You've probably noticed that
this updates page has shrunk a bit. It's time for me to admit what I've known for quite
some time--for years and years. You've probably known it, too: I don't have the drive, the
time, or the devotion to update this page as much as I did, or as much as I should. By no
means am I one of those girls who up and stopped loving Hanson, though. They're still my
boys, and they and their music are still dearer to me than pretty much anything else. But
for now, this page is going to be blank of the Hanson action in favor of some other
action. Call me crazy, but I'm working on a new version of Lived, completely
Hanson free. (Well. Mostly.) It's more than a complete and thorough revamping of the
old story: it's a rebirth. If you feel like reading what's written to date,
you might recognize some things, but hopefully they're better than they used to be. My
mission? Turn shoddy fanfic into an actual book and get it published. Which might actually
happen.
And the next time you go to a Hanson show remember to keep an eye out for me: I'll be that
girl standing next to you, the one looking so happy she might faint.
