Christmas, Bridges of Stone,and Other Feelings of Loss

A Matter of Pride.......

Don't let the fact that I was picking up women in the grocery store produce section make you think that women were problem for me. Not that I am conceited or anything, but they were always there, always. Any personality, shape, size, color. They were always there. I had been told for years, first by mom and dad, then as Ike and Tay found their life partners, them too. I believed it for all those years, but the past couple of years, I began to doubt it. I had done everything, I had dated them, fans and others. Women at church, women I was set up with, but I never made any connection. There were a few times I actually thought I might of, but I always had this annoying tug in the back of my heart telling me it just wasn't right. I had seen too many of my friends make that mistake and I wasn't about to. I wanted to make sure I was positive, One hundred percent positive.

.........Once again, found myself crossing the street and walking right past Kate's house, Wicket stopped again at the same spot, but no lights were on tonight. Wicket took his time, her trash can was set out for early morning pick-up. As I stood waiting for the tug on the leash, I noticed a ribbon with a small card attached hanging out from the lid of the trash can. I reached to read what it said and then stopped.
"I'm becoming a stalker!...looking in a persons trash- "help", I laughed at the thought ...........

..........."She loves me Tay, I have someone who really loves me--you can't know how that feels.." I laughed as I watched him. He looked like his skin had suddenly become to small for him, Like he was just going to explode out of it at any moment.
"Well, it's about time--you guys have been dancing around this thing all these years" I swear I almost felt like I was gonna get misty, just watching him this happy............
